Every year the Recording & Control business manufactures thousands of products, included in the box with each of them is a printed instruction manual. For customers already familiar with our products, instruction manuals are often not required. Also, customers purchasing a quantity of one product type will likely not require a printed manual for each of them, instead using just one manual to install and configure all the devices. As a result we indirectly generate a large amount of waste paper. To address this, for all orders received from January 1st 2020 onwards customers will need to specify via an optional digit at the end of the product code if a printed instruction manual is required.

All products will be shipped with a printed document detailing important safety information and basic installation/commissioning instructions. Included in this document is a QR code providing a direct link to an electronic copy of the full instruction manual if required. QR code will also be displayed directly on the rear case of the product.
Via this initiative the R&C business expects to reduce its paper usage by over a tonne per year. In addition, because the majority of R&C products are distributed via airfreight, we will in a small part be helping to reduce global CO2 emissions.
To help offset the environmental impact of the instruction manuals we continue to ship with products the Recording & Control product line has partnered with Forest of Marston Vale to plant a tree for every 25 instruction manuals shipped under this initiative.
